States that her father, Rev. J. H. Fries (decd mnister, German Reformed Church, Mifflinburgh, Union Co., PA) recorded the marriage of Simon Sheckler and Lydia Frantz, 19 Dec 1815. 2) Widow's Brief: Lydia Sheckler, wid/o Simon Sheckler, pvt; Augusta, Carroll Co., OH; filed 29 Apr 1878; evidence of service: "Simon Sheckler served in Capt. Jno Bergstresser's Co Pa Mil from 24 Sep to 15 Dec 1814." Length of service: 83 days; Warrant for Bounty Land claim 89,983-40-50 issued. 3) Claim of Widow for Service Pension, 18 Apr 1878. Lydia Ann Sheckler, 83y, Carroll Co., OH; wid/o Simon Sheckler (honorably discharged); Full description of her husband at time of enlistment: age: 22; farmer; 5 ft. 10 in.; 170 lb.; md. Union Co., PA (only marriage for both); d. 15 Nov 1827, East Twp., Carroll Co., OH; Land Warrants: two(2), one sold to John Manfull; one sold to Edmund Preston. 4) Affidavit: J. B. Roach, physician: She has at no time resided more than 3 miles from the village of Augusta during that time (30y) except about a year when she resided in an adjacent town with a daughter. Her descendants are numerous and respected. "Since I have been her family physician her health has been feeble, and she is now in poor health and weak in mind. Her age is about 85 years." 5) Affidavit: James Holder, Attorney: "By some mistake the word Ann was inserted in her application... Her real name appears to be Lydia ONLY." She is very old, infirm & of very feeble mind. A few weeks ago she fell and dislocated her hip and has suffered much pain since that time. 6) Pensioner Dropped, 1 Feb 1883. Lydia Sheckler, wid/o Simon & a pensioner, Certificate #10483, last paid ($8) to Sep 4, 1882, has been dropped; d. 24 Nov 1882.
