John Elmer Brothers obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, April 12, 1962. His wife was the daughter of Franklin Lorenz and Jennie Louella (Ray) Maple. John Elmer Brothers, 60, of Rt. 1, Mechanicstown, died Monday afternoon in his home. He had suffered a heart attack three weeks before and had been a patient in Canton Mercy Hospital prior to returning home last Friday. Son of the late Frank and Louella (Welch) Brothers, he was born August 27, 1901, on a Washington Twp. farm where he was reared and died. Mr. Brothers was a farmer and current candidate for the Republican nomination as Carroll County commissioner. He was a member of Corinth Presbyterian Church at Mechanicstown, the Mechanicstown Grange, Pomona Grange and the Ohio Association of Township Trustees and Clerks. Mr. Brothers was married August 22, 1928, to the former Grace Elizabeth Maple, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William Owens, of Mechanicstown and Miss Sharon Brothers of the home; one sister, Mrs. Wilbur Manfull of Augusta, and two grandchildren. Three brothers, George, Charles and Ralph, are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. this Thursday at the Allmon Funeral Home here with Rev. M. LeRoy Antram officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicstown cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. |
