Text:

Sarah E. (McIntire) Donaldson was born near Harlem Springs, June 23, 1854, and died Thursday morning, December 22, 1910. She was a daughter of Samuel and Barbara McIntire, of Harlem Springs, who have both preceded her to the other shore. She was a child of faith and prayer and in early life united with the Presbyterian Church of Harlem Springs under the pastorate of the Rev. S. L. Dickey. After marriage she transferred her membership to the Carrollton M. E. Church. At the time of her death she was a member of the M. E. Church of Creston, where she resided for a time. A few months before her death she removed to the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. D. N. George, of Scroggsfield, where she fell asleep in the blessed hope of her Savior on the above date. In all three places she was known and esteemed as an amicable, sincere and faithful Christian.
She was married to John Donaldson, July 4, 1892. From this union were born three sons, one dying in infancy, two, Jay and Marion, survive to cherish the memory and inherit the faith and prayers of a loving and faithful mother. Her life was not one strewn with roses. In her later years she was called upon to endure severe trial, sad disappointment and heavy sorrow; but being blest by nature with a sweet and loving disposition she was enabled by Divine grace to look for the silver lining in the darkest cloud, she developed a peculiarly, beautiful, kind and considerate character, which manifested to all who knew her the sincerity of a Christian life.
The last three years of her life were years of sickness, and at times of most severe suffering; yet she bore it all with a Christian patience and resignation attained by few. As she came near to the border land she longed and prayed earnestly to be taken home to rest, "To be forever with the Lord." Her prayer has been answered and she has gone with the passing of the Old Year into an everlasting and glorious New Year. She is survived by two brothers and two sisters, in addition to her two sons, viz., John McIntire, of Creston, George B. McIntire, of Harlem; Mrs. J. L. Kane, of Creston, and Mrs. D. N. George, of Scroggsfield, all of whom were present at the funeral, conducted by Rev. W. G. Martin, in the United Presbyterian Church in Scroggsfield, on Saturday, December 24, at 11 a.m. Burial in Scroggsfield cemetery.
