They had children: Martha Lou Ester Minerva Angeline Whitten, Eli Keasley Whitten, George Monroe Whitten, Madgie Lee Whitten, Little Solon Whitten, and John Berlin Whitten. Also adopted son, Willis Fox Whitten.

Notes in Whitten family history say she died of arsenic poisoning, thought to be given to her by her husband. It was never proved and he was never charged.
