Citation details: The Daily News, Longview, Washington, January 31, 2008 Text: Harry A. Scrichfield Harry Albert Scrichfield Jr., was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Snoqualmie, Wash., to Evelyn and Harry Scrichfield Sr., in the family home, delivered by Dr. Samuel Max. He passed away peacefully at home Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, from lung cancer. Harry graduated from Mt. Si High School in 1952. He was on the football, track and basketball teams. He held the high school record time for half mile for 13 years and was selected Washington State full-back of the week in football. He was the Lettermen's club president. Harry was an avid sports fanatic. He watched all his kids' sporting events then his grandkids'. Throughout his life, he kept up with all types of sports and eventually got into playing computer fantasy football, basketball, baseball and golf. He bowled many years on the Reynolds Bowling League with his son, Tom, with a 180 average. He loved being with his family, friends and meeting new people. Their home was often referred to as "Grand Central Station" because there rarely was a time it was without either family or friends visiting. They loved going to the beach and on many gambling trips to Reno and Vegas. They took a very memorable trip to the south where they retraced a great-grandfather's footsteps through his service in the Civil War. He married Marilyn Schroeder Oct. 9, 1954, in North Bend, Wash. During the first part of their marriage, they lived in the King County area where Harry worked for Weyerhaeuser, Boeing and managed three Arco service Stations before moving to Longview in 1968. He briefly worked for Longview Weyerheauser before he was hired at Reynolds Metals Plant until his illness forced him to retire in 1995. Surviving him are his wife, Marilyn, at home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Jeannie Scrichfield of Rainier and Matt and Lauri Scrichfield of Puyallup; his daughter and son-in-law, Rob and Teri Nielsen of Kelso; his grandchildren, Ryan and Tonya Scrichfield, and their children, Cameron and Sadie, Kelly and Sarah Scrichfield and child, Kaitlyn, Misty and Will Woodrum, Chance Waites, Hillary Reid and her child, Landon, all of Longview, Natalie and John Sutton, Nate Nielsen, all of Kelso, Tyler and kyle Scrichfield of Puyallup, Mark and Jessica Scrichfield of St. Helens, Ore., Joey Reid and Sam Reid of Rainier, and Shane and Jamie Keith of Kent, Wash.; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Honodel of Bellevue; and his sister, Hulda Julio and her partner, Monte Smith of Castle Rock. Preceding him in death were his mother, Evelyn Scrichfield in 1959; his father, Harry Scrichfield Sr., in 1985; his niece, Cheryl Stem in 1996; and his beloved in-laws, Mick and Dora Schroeder.
