Citation details: FREE PRESS STANDARD - 24 Aug 1916 Text: Henry Shaw, 92, died Friday night in his home at Augusta. For years he was prominent in the nursery business. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Shaw, and a son, John Shaw, the latter lving in Alliance. Seveal years ago on the occasion of the seventy ___ anniversary of the building of the Disciple church at Augusta, a picture was taken by the pastor of six couple(s), whose average age was 86-years, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Norris. Theywere Mr. and Mrs. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Norris, Mr. and Mrs. William Ashbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Pennock, Mr. and Mrs. Jehu Marshall. The survivors are Mrs. Shaw and Mr. Norris. |

Citation details: 3 May 1920 - AR Text: OBITUARY Mrs. H. M. Shaw of Augusta died Sunday at 11:30 at the home of her son, J. H. Shaw and wife at 232 West Cambridge street. The cause of her death was infirmities of age, being 82 years. She was born in Augusta where she spent nearly all her life. Besides her son, she is survived by a grandson, two sisters and a brother. She was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church since early girlhood. She had a wide acquaintance in the vicinity where she resided. The funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church at Augusta, on Tuesday morning at 11:30 o’clock. The funeral cortege will leave Alliance on the 9:45 New York Central train Tuesday morning. Friends may call at the Shaw home Monday evening between six and 9 o’clock.

Hanna, pastor of the church in charge. He was assisted by Rev. Simms, pastor of the Disciple church. Interment was made at the Augusta cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Shaw, Robert Henry, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Crawford, Jesse Shaw of this city. Mrs. Harper of Canton, Mrs. Gilson of Uniontown, Pa, and Mrs. Thomas Patterson were among those who accompanied the body to Augusta for the services. Friday evening a large concourse of friends called at the Shaw home, 232 West Cambridge street to view the remains. |
