Citation details: CARROLL FREE PRESS, January 20, 1886 Text: Obituary – CARROLL FREE PRESS MARY ELVA MANFULL STRANGE DEATH OF A LITTLE CHILD Kensington, O., Jan 18 – Elva, a little three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Manfull, near Augusta , died this morning from the effects of a fall received yesterday. She had climbed up and was standing on a high chair trying to get something out of a cupboard, when she fell backward, the back of her head striking the edge of a box, thereby rupturing a blood vessel in the head. Medical aid was promptly called, but failed to stop the flow of blood and death followed. There seems to be a fatality hanging over this family as less than two years ago they lost a little boy whose death was caused by injuries received from a fall over the back of a chair. The parents are nearly heart-broken and have the sympathy of the entire community. |
