A SAD DEATH

On Thursday last about 2 o’clock, as Venemon Manfull, of the Dry Goods firm of Crawford, Gans & Manfull of Augusta, was busily waiting upon customers, Dr. Laughlin perhaps, he said, “I have a fearful pain in my head. I am so hot” then drewo ff his coat, passed into the office and sat down upon a chair, while young Mr. Simpson waited upon customers a couple of minutes, then Mr. S. went to the office and found Manfull growing worse, he hurried into the store, when Mr. Gans ran intothe office with Dr. Laughlin to find Mr. Manfull unconscious. He died in a short time of Apoplexy. Mr. Crawford had started East for goods that morning; but was met with a telegram at Pittsburgh, from Mr. Gans, which caused him to return. Thissad death deranges the firm’s business, but it will continue, under the firm name of Crawford & Gans.

Mr. Manfull was a most exemplary young unmarried man, of sterling qualities, seldom equaled. The severest loss falls upon his parents, brothers and sisters. He was about 30 years old.

FORMER SENATOR DIES SUDDENLY IN WASHINGTON
E. T. Crawford Was Well Known In Political Circles - Born in Augusta
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Augusta for Edgar T. Crawford, 63, Washington, D.C., former state senator from the Stark-Carroll district, who died suddenly in Washington, Saturday morning. Burial was in Augusta cemetery.
Mr Crawford was well known in Carroll county and had been a political leader in the county for a number of years during the early part of his life. He served two terms as state senator from the Stark-Carroll district and was later named asSecretary of the United States Shipping Board. For the past several years he has been connected with the Aricultural Adjustment Administration in Washington. His death came unexpectantly and was preceeded by a short illness.
He was born in Augusta and engaged in the mercantile business in that community prior to his election to the senate. He left this county 15 years ago. The body was brought to the home of his brother William Crawford, in Augusta, and funeralservices were conducted there. His mother, Mrs Angie Heston, Harlem, Mont, had been a guest at William Crawford's home for several weeks prior to the death of her son.
He is survived by his widow, his mother, a daughter Mrs Marie Cooper, Minerva; a sister, Mrs Iva Sturges of Harlem, Mont; a brother, William, Augusta; three step-children, and two grandchildren.

Burial record gives the date of 3 Aug 1935, but this has to be his death date because his obituary states that he died suddenly Saturday morning and was buried Tuesday. See calendar for August 1935.

MRS MADIE A. LONG
Mrs Madie A. Long,75, life resident of Agusta, died Saturday afternoon, December 19, at the home of her brother, Eli Manfull of Augusta. She was a member of the Augusta Christian church. Surviving are one son, Wayne Long of Kensington; onestep-daughter, Mrs Verna Noling, and a step-son, Stanton Long, both of Augusta; a sister, Mrs Angie Heston of Harlem, Mont; another brother, Mont Manfull of near Minerva, three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Augusta Christian church, in charge of Rev. F.E. Spooner. Interment was in Augusta cemetery.

ELI MANFULL, 91, a life resident of Augusta vicinity, died Monday night, September 3, at his home following a short illness. He was active in Augusta Christian church affairs, of which he was a former trustee, and also a member of the F. & A.Mlodge. Surviving are three sons, H.B. Manfull of Canton, T.C. Manfull of Minerva, and Jesse A. Manfull of Augusta; two daughters, Mrs Fannie McLean of Alliance and Mrs Ollie Thompson of Mechanicstown; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; asister, Mrs Angie Heston of Harlem, Mont, and a brother, Mortimer Manfull of Minerva.
Services will be held this afternoon at 2:15 at the residence and at 2:30 in Augusta Christian church, with Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Augusta cemetery.
