Citation details: 8 Sep 1886 - Carrollton Free Press Text: VENEMON MANFULL A SAD DEATH On Thursday last about 2 o’clock, as Venemon Manfull, of the Dry Goods firm of Crawford, Gans & Manfull of Augusta, was busily waiting upon customers, Dr. Laughlin perhaps, he said, “I have a fearful pain in my head. I am so hot” then drewo ff his coat, passed into the office and sat down upon a chair, while young Mr. Simpson waited upon customers a couple of minutes, then Mr. S. went to the office and found Manfull growing worse, he hurried into the store, when Mr. Gans ran intothe office with Dr. Laughlin to find Mr. Manfull unconscious. He died in a short time of Apoplexy. Mr. Crawford had started East for goods that morning; but was met with a telegram at Pittsburgh, from Mr. Gans, which caused him to return. Thissad death deranges the firm’s business, but it will continue, under the firm name of Crawford & Gans. Mr. Manfull was a most exemplary young unmarried man, of sterling qualities, seldom equaled. The severest loss falls upon his parents, brothers and sisters. He was about 30 years old. |
