Martha Marie Allen, 81, of Pineville, La., formerly of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 6, 1924, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Hyatt Kandel. She was a member of the Bentley Church of Christ in Bentley, La. Martha is survived by one son, Sam Allen of Pineville, La.; one daughter, Bonnie (James) K. Steele of Carrollton; one sister, Nova Kinsey of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Kathy Merchant, Samuel Allen, Shane Steele, Chad Steele, Dwayne Thiels andSteve Thiels; and eight great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold Allen, in 2002. Two sisters, Mary Belle Johnson and Norma Tingen, are also deceased. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Sue Snode officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery at Carrollton. Nova M. Kinsey Nova M. Kinsey, 71, of Andora Rd., Carrollton died peacefully in her home Saturday, May 30, 2009, following an extended illness. Born May 28, 1938, in Augusta, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Hyatt Kandel. She was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and held various jobs during her lifetime. She enjoyed her hobbies including ceramics, reading and her birds. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, George B. Kinsey, Jr.; four daughters, Deborah (Ben) Prather of Lisbon, Teresa (Wayne) Potts of Lowell, MI, Laura (Tim) McNutt of Carrollton and Sonia C. Reed of Centerville, VA; two sons, GeorgeW.Kinsey of Texas and Robert B. Kinsey of Louisiana; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
