JOHN L. DOWLING November 6, 1836-August 24, 1909 Obituary CARROLL CHRONICAL AUGUST 27, 1909 DEATH’S DOINGS JOHN L. DOWLING passed into rest, Tuesday afternoon, at the home of his son-in-law, O. J. Manful, Main street baker and grocer. He had been sick for six days with a fourth attack of apoplexy. The remains were taken to Augusta yesterday forinter ment, where services were held in the Disciple church. The deceased was born in Chester County, Pa., November 6, 1836. His home for a long time was in Kensington, this state. In 1881 he moved to Augusta to work in the Cunningham mill as engineer. Since the death of his wife in 1896, he has lived the most of his time with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Manful, whose quiet home and kindness he enjoyedv ery much. He was a life long member of the Disciple church and served as Deacon in the Kensington and Augusta churches. He had two children, Mr. Mont Dowling of Kensington and Alliance being the second. There are also nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to mourn their loss.
