Velma M. Locke, Age 92, of Minerva, died Monday, July 13, 2009 in Altercare of Alliance. She was born April 15, 1917 in Augusta, OH to Elmer Leatherberry and Belle (Witherspoon) (Leatherberry) Davis.
She was a beauty operator for the Alliance Beauty School and had worked for VRE in Malvern, and Cronin China in Minerva.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Locke; two daughters, Gloria Winn, Kimberly Locke; a brother, Bob Leatherberry.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Louis) Sabatino of Minerva; three sons, Larry Locke of Port Orange, FL, Loren Locke of Phoenix, AZ, Dan (Marian) Locke of Hartville; a brother, Ernie Leatherberry of Canton; 14 grandchildren, 14great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Fr. Victor Cinson officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., or Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Assoc.
