Nicholas Harsh died Tuesday morning at three o'clock in his home on North Lisbon Street and was buried Thursday afternoon. The services were conducted in the Presbyterian Church by Rev. W. S. Kreger, D.D., and interment was made in Grandview Cemetery. Mr. Harsh had been in poor health for more than six months from heart and kidney trouble, and about three weeks ago his illness took a turn for the worse, and from that time his decline was rapid. Mr. Harsh was born August 24, 1829, near Hibbetts, and was married April 1, 1855, to Jemima Leslie, of near Pekin. They started to housekeeping in the vicinity of Hibbetts, and later located on the George Maple farm, near town, where they lived until they purchased what is known as the Long land, west of Carrollton. They moved to Carrollton sixteen years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Harsh were the parents of three children: Willard M. Harsh, who is superintendent of the Lakeside & Marbllehead Railroad and its subsidiaries: Frank M. Harsh, a W. & L.E. passenger conductor running from Cleveland to Zinesville: Mrs. Joseph Newman. He is survived by the foregoing children and Mrs. Harsh. Of the family of Mr. Harsh, consisting of three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Martin Stemple, known as "Aunt Becca," is the survivor. Mr. Harsh was a member of the Presbyterian Church, having united at New Harrisburg sometime over 30 years ago. He was a republican of the old school. Mr. Harsh was one of the highly respected citizens of the community. Quiet and undemonstrative, yet firm and fixed in all his views, he had a legion of friends, who mourn the death of "Uncle Nick," as he was known to all the citizens and children of the community.
