Obituary
John E. (Jack) Straughn passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at the age of 79. He was born in Massillon, Ohio, on Sept. 20, 1935, to the late Earl and Rosann (Budd) Straughn. He graduated from Washington High School class of 1953, and was aU.S. Marine Corps Veteran.
He worked for Tom Straughn's Menswear for 15 years; and then moved to Cleveland and worked at the May Co. After that he returned to Massillon and purchased Spuhlers Interior Decorating Store, which was in operation for another 10 years. Then heworked at Walkers Men's Store in Akron Summit Mall.
Jack was a Mason and a member of Clinton Lodge #47, F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan (Kohl) Straughn; daughter, Cathy (Mike) Roma, of Canton; son, John E. Straughn, of Tampa, Fla.; brother, R. Thomas (Nancy) Straughn, of Massillon; sisters, Susan (Marion) Sandefur, of Delroy andLinda (Rick) Wise, of Strongsville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours and the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at Rose Hill Mausoleum for the immediate family with interment to follow. Donations can be made in Jack's name to NPR, Kent State University.
