Mary E. Knight Mary E. Knight, age 99, of Augusta, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in Great Trail Care Center. Born July 4, 1913, in Colliers, WV, she was a daughter to Charles and Alta (Anderson) Newell. She was a housewife and co-owner of Knight's Fruit Farm in Augusta. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Whitacre of San Antonio, TX; son, George (Jacquelin) Knight of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Knight, who died in 1991; sister, Nora Locke; and two brothers, Raymond and Paul Newell. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 31 at 1:30 p.m. in Augusta Cemetery, Crawford Addition, Lot 37N, with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. There are no formal calling hours. Larry Whitacre Larry Whitacre, age 56, passed away Sept. 23, 2014, in San Antonio, TX. Born July 25, 1958, in Alliance, OH, he was a son to Frank and Shirley Whitacre. He was a member of the stagehand guild union #76, a 1977 graduate of John Jay High School in San Antonio and had formerly worked at Colfor in Malvern. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Whitacre of San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Megan Whitacre of Hobart, IN; a sister, Michelle (Tom) Whitacre-Wanat of Dallas, TX; two brothers, David (Audrey) Whitacre of Shelbyville, KY, and Gordon Whitacre;three grandchildren, Tommy, Tyler, and Tucker; two nieces, Kelcie Wanat and Amy (Owen) Mitchell; four nephews, Christopher Wanat, Bryan (Meagan) Whitacre, Brandon Whitacre, and Grant Whitacre; and a great-nephew, Dominic Whitacre. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. in Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery, Crawford Addition, Lot 35-S. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
