Fort Wayne Sentinel 18 Oct 1898 Page 1 John Solon, one of the old and respected settlers of Lake Township died at his residence Monday morning at 9:30 of exhaustion, superinduced by old age. The funeral will be held Wednesday. Mr. Solon was a native of County Mayo, Ireland and came to this country in 1850. He leaves a wife and 7 children. The children are George P. Solon of Pittsburg; Bernard Solon of Woodburn, IN; Mrs. Margaret Clark of Aboit TWP.; and Catherine and Agnes, John N, and Michael E. Solon at home.

The Fort Wayne Sentinel 17 Jan 1910 page 2: Anthony Solon, 81 years died at 11:15 Saturday evening at the home of his daughter Mrs. F.J. Applebach, 606 East Lewis Street as a result of a stroke of paralysis he had Thursday night. Mr. Solon was born in County Mayo, Ireland May 28, 1829, came to America at the age of 19 and in 1856 removed to Fort Wayne. He was employed for a time on the old canal and as an engineman of what is now the Pennsylvania Railroad in this city. Later he removed to Lafayette, remaining until 4 years ago, when he returned to Fort Wayne to make his home with his daughter. He was a member of the Cathedral congregation and is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter--Thomas Solon of Toledo, Bernard Solon of Los Angeles, CA and Mrs. F.J. Applebach of this city. Internment will be at Lafayette.
